Virtual ukulele lessons for children, taught by Music Therapists.

After witnessing the positive impact that learning to play the ukulele had on children in my clinical work as a Music Therapist, I founded You & Uke therapy. The ukulele is not only a wonderful medium for music education, but a tool for self-care which children can keep with them throughout their entire lives. Read more about why below!

Hi! My name is Maclayne Simone, and I am the Music Therapist behind You & Uke Therapy.

"At You & Uke Therapy, we believe every child has the right to a music education which considers and understands their whole being: heart, body, mind, and spirit".

An accredited music therapist will meet your child virtually in the comfort of your home. Together, they will learn the ins and outs of the ukulele, the basics of music, song creation, and other musical skills in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Our aim is to empower young people through music and to lead them down a path of self-confidence in their own creativity. It is our highest value that while learning ukulele, students feel comfortable, safe, and able to express themselves authentically. Children of all abilities are welcome.

We provide a light hearted atmosphere of enjoyment, confidence, expression, and growth. We meet students wherever they are at and provide a personalized curriculum. In our sessions students will not only learn to play ukulele, but will also take part in other musical activities which aid in developing healthy emotional and creative expression, confidence, fine and gross motor skills, and many other personal and therapeutic goals.

How does it work?

Each person has a unique way and pace of learning. As music therapists, we recognize this and believe the best way and pace to learn anything is your own. There is no set curriculum to get through or any pressure to move more quickly or slowly than feels natural to our students. In our sessions, it is never the students’ job to fit into any sort of predetermined curriculum or box; it is the music therapists job to create a container in which clients thrive in their own way.

Students are guided, validated, and encouraged in a way which nurtures confidence and independence.  Our aim is to set up a foundation of musical understanding and expression in which children feel capable and confident in themselves, and take with them the tools they need to continue creating far beyond when sessions end.

Our number one goal is for our students to feel seen, understood, and inspired within sessions. We keep the vibe lighthearted and playful, because that’s how children learn best. Your child will be met exactly where they are during their sessions, and treated with kindness, love, and gentleness.

Confidence building.

Light hearted and low pressure.
